Los Angeles - Day 1

I arrived in Los Angeles yesterday at 10:45 am PT.  I was at the luggage terminal by 11, out by 11:20 or so, in the SuperShuttle and in my hotel room by noon.  It couldn't have been any better!!! The hotel is nice, and my room has a balcony overlooking The Avenue of the Stars.

I had the opportunity to walk around a bit yesterday and get my bearings.  Although I studied the map, things are quite how I envisioned... I thought the hotel was on the other side of the street!!  That's ok though... I'll adjust.   I immediately found the great big mall that's basically right across the street from my hotel, and found a great sale at Ann Taylor.  We're really in a business district... I can see the Wachovia building from here, and AIG SunAmerica is right across the street, which, was kinda cool... my first job out of college was with SunAmerica  in their NYC office.  It's neat to run into the LA Home Office that I used to hear so much about! I walked up to Santa Monica Boulevard... which is a pretty big thoroughfare. Not at all what I had envisioned.

It's really beautiful here. Where I'm staying, the streets are clean, landscaping is nicely manicured, and there's a beautiful view of downtown LA, as well as some of the hills (to me, they're mountains).  Oh, and everyone's beautiful. Guys and girls.  Tis the land of the beautiful people, for sure.

Last night, I went to dinner with vo Kara Edwards.  It was great to finally meet her in person! She's as nice, sweet and down to earth as I knew she would be.  I loved hearing the story of how she and her husband Chris met.  We talked all things vo - what we've auditioned for lately, fun clients we love to work with... it was great. A cool chick, for sure!

Today, I hope to do a little sightseeing, and later in the afternoon, meet with an agent.  Then, it's off to the Red Carpet event, which is apparently going to be quite the scene!!!!  I'll try to remember to take pictures and figure out how to upload them to my blog.

Oh, when I talked to my husband last night, and was telling him what a cool town this was, he replied, "You want to move there, don't you?"  I laughed... I've only been around one square block... it's hard to say just yet!!

Here are some views from my room:
