Life is Good!
My favorite time of the year is here... SUMMER!!!
Even though I live in Southwest Florida, and it gets mighty hot here, I love it hot! The hotter the better, is what I say. I also love summer b/c there aren't as many tourists around... the town is our own, finally.
Now, if the hurricanes just stay away, we'll be golden.
Let me just give you a brief rundown on what I've been up to, work-wise:
- I just re-recorded my Commercial and Promo demos. I've had a lot of great feedback about them, which I'm excited about.
- I've been busy doing vo work! Imagine that! My most recent notable gig was last week for Charter Cable - national radio spot.
- I've been helping Randy Thomas get some things coordinated for the VOICE 2008 conference, at which she's speaking, as well helping to prepare promotion of her and Peter Rofe's new book, "Voice for Hire: Launch and Maintain a Lucrative Career in Voiceovers." Oh, and at the conference, she's going to have a couple of very cool guests on her panel. To be revealed...
- I'm getting ready to send out my summer postcard campaign next week, as well as planning the rest of my marketing strategy for the year.
And, here's a brief rundown of things I'm doing this summer for FUN!
- I've been elected to the University of Florida Alumni Association Board of Directors -- a huge honor! My term begins in July, and will be kicked off with a four day orientation and board meeting in Fort Lauderdale. I'm really looking forward to it!
- In a couple of weeks, I'm going up to Gainesville (University of Florida - GO GATORS!) for fun... some girlfriends and I are going to attend the Women's Football Camp. We'll be in THE SWAMP, doing drills with the coaches (including National Championship Coach Urban Meyer), and lots of fun stuff. I'm hoping to get to see Tim Tebow's Heisman Trophy up close as well.
- My husband's 40th birthday is in July, so I'm trying to plan a trip for us - since he doesn't want to really acknowledge his age with a party. Can't say I blame him. So, we're thinking about a little driving trip to Charleston, SC.
- In August, I'm going to Los Angeles for VOICE 2008. I'm really excited about this trip - I've only been to LAX a few times, but never have been to the city. That, and I'm excited to meet all my virtual friends that I've made through message boards, as well as I KNOW it's going to be a great learning experience!
- In August/September, I plan to visit NYC. My brother will be in town, and I hope to make it a work-related trip as well.

I too am pretty psyched about VOICE 2008. I'm getting packed and ready to roll up the road 100 or so miles to the north this Thursday. Congrats on the v/o work. I look forward to meeting you in person, real soon.
