A nice surprise...
I'm blessed that my life is typically full of nice surprises lately. Sometimes, I do get the not-so-nice surprise... like when my Internet went out this week and the Comcast tech couldn't get here for 48 hours. That adds just a little stress when your work depends on a being able to send audio via the Internet. I did a lot of driving to and fro my husband's office - thank God for jump drives!!!
However, I rationalized my frustration... it could have been worse. I could've had a mis-fire in equipment which could be expensive, or something like that. Thinking about it that way made me feel MUCH better and way less stressed. Thank God it wasn't worse!!! (BTW, it turns out it wasn't Comcast at all - my 6 month old router pooped out!).
One of the best surprises this week was when fellow voice actor, Peter O'Connell, gave me a call on Tuesday night! I've never met Peter... nor have I ever spoken with him on the phone. (He has a lovely voice!!) But, we've chatted on the vo-bb.com forum, and in other forums. Peter happened to be in the area (Marco Island) on business and wanted to see if we could get together to meet. How nice!!!!!!
So, we met on Wednesday afternoon before Peter was to catch his flight home. Unfortunately, I guess I'm a little directionally challenged (no wonder my husband bought that GPS software for my iPaq!!), and so my directions made poor Peter drive in basically, a big fat circle, in traffic!!! Eventually, he found his way to Denny's, and we had a nice conversation about all things voice over - agents, message boards, work, and the like. Oh, and I got to see pictures of his absolutely adorable daughter... she's precious!!
Check out Peter's site at www.audioconnell.com, and his blog at www.audioconnell.com/blog/. He's got a great voice, he's smart and professional.
